Strings of twinkling lights hanging overhead; walls of exposed brick; polished hardwood floors. Big Mini Putt Club isn’t your average mini-golf course. And it isn’t supposed to be. Owners and founders Austin and Nick spent months designing and creating each hole in their own basement workshop, eventually transporting the elements to the 5,000-square-foot former garment factory where the golf “club” lives today in Wicker Park.
It’s not really a club, more of an open public course—with a full bar. The nine-hole course consists of shots that should be challenging, but not impossible. Austin has put particular effort into avoiding the typical mini-golf tropes in order to create unexpected challenges. He’s constantly working on new ideas, too, so don’t hesitate to share any thoughts you may have! Book a tee time online and then grab a cocktail to enjoy while you putt. Try the Sandtrap Sidecar with brandy, triple sec, lime juice, and sour mix or the Straw-Birdie margarita with the classic fixings, plus strawberry puree. The drink list also boasts many beer and cider options, including many brewed right here in Chicago, from Half Acre to Goose Island.
