A little bit Polish and a little bit Italian, the newly opened Maddon’s Post has the food from both nationalities in a loving homage to the folks of Chicago.
Located right in the heart of Wrigleyville, Maddon’s Post has a polished but comfortable dining room with classy versions of the dishes you might find in an authentic home kitchen. City chicken, potato pancakes, and Polish cucumber salad gets an update with fresh herbs and flavorful aiolis, or you can stick to Italian fare like brisket rigatoni and wood-fired pizzas. There is also the crowd favorite pierogies, and you can choose from the basic cheese or sauerkraut, or fancier ones with pork sausage and pickled mustard seeds. The menu also demands that you "save room for paczki," Polish filled doughnuts that Maddon’s Post does with rich chocolate dough and a flavorful burst of strawberry jam.
This new restaurant is a welcome addition to the food scene at Wrigleyville, and also offers daily happy hour, late night eats, and the second floor Flamingo Room for private events. Preview their menu at the website, and put it at the top of your list to try the next time you’re in the area.
